Basic guidelines for making a submission
|
Submission Information: When your work is submitted to The Examined Life On-Line Philosophy Journal (Hereafter, TEL), you must include a text document stating that you assent to having TEL publish your work which includes the name of the work, your name, and the date on which you are submitting it. Any submissions not including such a text document will not be considered for publication. Furthermore, the text document must be sent from an email address belonging to you for verification. You may not send this document from a friend’s or relative’s address. (If you do not have a personal email address, there are several services that provide those, including TEL, which will allow you to have your own email address.) Your name must be included in the text of the email containing your text message of consent. By authorizing TEL to publish your work, you are granting us permission to place your work with or without editorial comments, and in edited or “as is” form, in one edition of TEL which shall, for all intents and purposes, remain in publication in perpetuity in electronic, HTML, PDF, print, and any other new technologies that may become available. Your submission, once published by TEL, will remain part of the edition (the collective whole), unless removed by the sole discretion of the editorial staff while keeping the majority of the edition in which your submission appeared intact. Authors must understand that their works will remain in circulation for an unspecified amount of time, and will not be removed solely on the author’s request, regardless of how much time has past. You also understand that TEL does not pay authors for their work. TEL may, however, indirectly profit from authors’ work by offering it as part of a collective whole, the edition in which it was published, for sale in any one of the above listed formats. TEL makes no agreements, either publicly or in private, to pay or share profits in any form with its contributors. Any profits benefited from the sale of an edition go to TEL to cover publication costs and to reimburse editorial staff when the need arises. If you change your mind and do not wish to have your previously submitted article published, you must send us a text message with a date and your name prior to publication of your work rescinding publication privileges to TEL, and you must get notification from the executive editorial staff acknowledging receipt of that message from you. If you have not received such an acknowledgement, then do not assume that the executive editorial staff has read your message rescinding permission. You will not hold TEL responsible for publishing your article if you do not receive such an acknowledgement. Furthermore, you will not hold TEL responsible for any harm, injury, hardship, or consequences (foreseen or unforeseen) that may arise from TEL’s publication of your submission. You also understand that TEL’s agreement to publish your work is not an endorsement of your views, opinions, comments, or remarks. You will assume sole responsibility for those. Copyright
Information: You understand that by granting TEL
permission to publish your submission you are entering into a joint copyright
venture. You, as the author, will retain the copyright for your work,
and are free to have it published elsewhere if you wish, but you also
understand that once your article appears in TEL, no matter what
digital, print, or other form, it is part of the collective whole of that
edition, and TEL holds the sole copyright to that collective whole.
TEL may in turn relinquish, sell, give, or share the copyright
of that collective whole to another entity. Who this entity is or may
be is the sole discretion of TEL. As part of that collective whole,
TEL agrees not to republish your article separate from
that whole without your written consent. Thank
you for your interest in
