Quotes Program

Made for The Examined Life Readers
by TPM Online

Ever wish you had a database of philosophical quotations at your finger tips?
Your wish has been granted!

Jeremy Stangroom, online editor of the international magazine, The Philosophers' Magazine (TPM), has tweaked a program he created especially for the readers of The Examined Life. The program features not only famous quotes by prominent philosophers throughout history, but also obscure quotes by lesser known philosophers. It also has a wide sampling of quotes made by contemporary philosophers in various publications. All in all, there are over 800 quotes included in the database.

If that was not enough to make this program a must have, you can customize the quotation program by adding and deleting quotes to your liking.

And if that were still not enough, we offer it to you absolutely free!*

To get this program on your desktop, simply follow these instructions:

  1. Download the Zip file containing the program.
  2. Use a file decompression tool such as WinZip to unzip the program to a folder of your choosing.
  3. After the program is unzipped, right click on the Quotes.exe icon and select "send to desktop (create shortcut)" so that you will have easy access to the program.
  4. Once the icon for the program is placed on your desktop, simply double-click the icon to begin enjoying The Examined Life Philosophical Quotations.
  5. Also, you might want to consider trying The Examined Life Philosophy Resource Browser!

If you need further assistance with downloading the program, contact administrator@theexaminedlife.every1.net

If you have questions, or problems with the program itself, contact quotations@philosophers.co.uk

Thank you for your time and your interest in The Examined Life Quotations Program!

Terms of Use

This quotations program has been put together for The Examined Life Journal by The Philosophers' Magazine.

This program is provided without charge for personal use on an "as is" basis. You may load it on to as many computers as you wish, pass it around to your friends, etc. However, there are a number of things that you may not do with it.

1. Under no circumstances may it be distributed for a fee.
2. It must not be networked on an institution's computer network (e.g., a school, college or library). Individual members of institutions may, of course, load it on to their own computers even where these preside within the bounds of an institution. But it must not be provided as an institutional resource (i.e., as something which resides on a server, in principle accessible to all members of an institution).
3. It may not be used for commercial purposes (except in the boundary case of academia - for example, people working in academia can use the program in the preparation of texts for which they might receive a fee). The intention is that the program should be an educational tool.
4. You may not extract the quotations from the database for the purposes of reproducing them as an independent quotations resource. The quotations collection (for obvious reasons, not the quotes themselves!) is the copyrighted property of TPM.

About the quotations

These quotations are reproduced under the terms of the 'fair use' provision of international copyright law. However, if you are the copyright holder of a particular quotation and wish that it be removed from the database, please contact us at: quotations@philosophers.co.uk.
